Assam, August 04, 2026: As severe floods continue to devastate communities across the state of Assam, Indus Towers, one of the world’s largest telecom infrastructure companies, has stepped forward to extend vital emergency support. In its latest humanitarian effort, the company has successfully reached approximately 1,100 affected families residing in the hard-hit districts of Charaideo, Sivasagar, and Jorhat.
The massive relief distribution was carried out under the umbrella of the company’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Pragati. Operations were centralized across designated relief centers situated in Sonari and Teok.
Comprehensive Support for Immediate Needs
Understanding the multifaceted challenges brought on by the deluge, the initiative focused on providing affected families with comprehensive, carefully curated support kits designed to meet their most pressing immediate needs.
These relief kits included:

Dry Rations: Essential food supplies to combat immediate hunger and food insecurity caused by disrupted supply chains.

WASH Supplies: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) items critical for preventing waterborne diseases in flooded areas.

Medical Supplies: Basic healthcare necessities to address minor injuries and illnesses.

Customized Kits: Special attention was given to the most vulnerable demographics, with customized kits distributed specifically for pregnant women, new mothers, and infants between six months and two years of age.
Standing with the Community in Times of Adversity
The scale of the 2026 Assam floods has created immense logistical and survival challenges for thousands of families, abruptly cutting off access to basic necessities.
Speaking on the urgency and intent of the initiative, Mr. Rajender Gurung, Circle CEO (NESA), Indus Towers Limited, stated:

Adding a personal touch to the corporate initiative, employees of Indus Towers actively visited the affected areas. They interacted directly with the families during the relief distribution program, listening to their challenges and reaffirming the company’s ground-level commitment to ensuring timely support.

This recent intervention in Assam is part of a broader, sustained strategy by Indus Towers to support disaster-prone regions in the Northeast. It closely follows the company’s recent emergency relief efforts in the flood-affected areas of neighboring Arunachal Pradesh, underscoring a continued and dedicated focus on helping vulnerable communities across the entire Northeast region.
Through its CSR program, Pragati, Indus Towers has pledged to continue working closely with local stakeholders, government bodies, and community partners. The ultimate goal is to move beyond immediate relief and actively strengthen long-term recovery and resilience-building efforts in disaster-affected regions.
The on-ground implementation and logistical execution of this relief distribution were managed by the Northeast Affected Area Development Society (NEAID), ensuring the aid reached the most deserving and deeply affected pockets of the state efficiently.
