Bharatiyam’s “Ragas for Yamuna – Edition 4”

Bharatiyam, an initiative led by like-minded individuals dedicated to creating a positive impact on the environment and society, successfully hosted “Ragas for Yamuna – Edition 4” on a beautiful winter evening at the Garden Amphitheatre, Sunder Nursery, Nizamuddin, New Delhi, on January 17, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

The event seamlessly blended the timeless beauty of Indian classical music with the critical mission of environmental conservation, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees. The evening was generously supported by Ethos Limited, India’s leading luxury watch retailer, and the reputed apparel brand Andamen.

About Bharatiyam

BHARATIYAM, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, is a national-level society established and co-founded in 2007 by:

  • Shri K. J. Rao (Former Secretary, Election Commission of India)

  • Shri Anil Gupta (Former GST Officer)

  • Shri Srinivas Kotni (Advocate, Lexport & General Secretary)

Currently, Bharatiyam is led by Dr. Suresh Singhvi (Gangaram Hospital) and Shri Anil Gupta as Co-Chairpersons.

Bharatiyam is actively engaged in environmental, social, and cultural initiatives across India. Its diverse membership includes serving and retired bureaucrats, doctors, lawyers, chartered accountants, artists, academicians, entrepreneurs, and social workers.

Spellbinding Performances

The evening featured captivating performances by renowned maestros:

Pandit Sajan Mishra

Padma Bhushan awardee and one of India’s most revered Hindustani classical vocalists from the legendary Banaras Gharana, Pandit Sajan Mishra performed alongside his son Swaransh Mishra, a distinguished classical singer in his own right. A torchbearer of the khayāl tradition, Pandit Sajan Mishra’s five-decade-long career, marked by depth of emotion, purity of raga, and mastery over taan and layakari, has earned him numerous accolades including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Tansen Samman, and Gandharva Award.

Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan

One of the world’s foremost sitar maestros and a seventh-generation torchbearer of the Imdadkhani–Etawah Gharana, Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan is celebrated for his soulful gayaki-ang style. Son of the legendary Ustad Vilayat Khan, he has performed at iconic global venues such as Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Royal Albert Hall, and the Dover Lane Conference, earning international acclaim for his deeply expressive artistry.

Siddhartha Banerjee

An acclaimed classical musician and the visionary inventor of the Siddha Veena, Siddhartha Banerjee is recognized as a pioneering force in contemporary Indian classical music. A fourth-generation artist, his performances are known for meditative ālāp, lyrical improvisation, and tonal purity. As Artistic Director of the Sharda Music Foundation, he remains committed to preserving classical heritage while innovating for future generations.

The proceeds from “Ragas for Yamuna – Edition 4” will support initiatives such as:

  • Deployment of guards to prevent garbage, especially single-use plastic, from entering the Yamuna

  • Plantation drives and expansion of urban forests

  • Long-term care and sustainable development for orphans through Project Vatsalya

All funds will be utilized transparently under the guidance of a dedicated and selfless committee.
