Surat Firm ZORKO Pvt Ltd Announces 12 Days Of ‘Period Leaves’ Per Year For Women Employees

Recently, ZORKO Brand announced 12 days period leaves per year for its women staff. The move received a positive response from people; followers of ZORKO believe that the move is progressive and will normalise discussion around the stigma of periods.

Considering that a large number of women suffer from various problems around their periods, most women see this as a welcome move and it looks like ZORKO Brand has already paved the way.

Anand Nahar, Co-Founder at ZORKO Pvt Ltd said “Menstruation is still a taboo in Indian society. Even today females working in offices become conscious of taking a bag, purse, or a plastic bag in a hand while going to the washroom. We want to break this stigma and send a strong message to all startups in India to understand the biological difference between males and females. We have taken this step so that women do not have to deal with the discomfort of coming to the office during periods.”

“In discussions with team regarding the topic of period leaves, those against it suggested that women could simply use sick leaves – however that further stigmatises the idea of menstruation as a ‘disease’.
Business firms across the country should note that every month many women face acute problems and recognising those only contributes to employee satisfaction” reportedly said Amrit Nahar, Co-Founder at ZORKO Pvt Ltd.
