Yi Bengaluru Celebrates International Yoga Day with Extensive College Outreach

In celebration of International Yoga Day, Young Indians (Yi) Bengaluru & Decathlon jointly conducted an extensive series of yoga sessions across 11 colleges in the city, significantly impacting 1400+ Thalir Students and 140+ YUVA College Students. This initiative, organized in association with Decathlon, aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among the youth, fostering a holistic approach to health and wellness.

The participating institutions include The Sheila Kothavala Institute for the Deaf, National Association for the Blind, Yenepoya University, New Horizon College of Engineering, Sankara College of Optometry, Acharya Bangalore Business School (ABBS), Parikrma Centre For Learning- Jayanagar, Parikrma Centre For Learning-Sahakarnagar, Bhavan- Bangalore Press School, and Malgudi Vidyaniketan. Each session was meticulously designed to cater to the diverse needs of students, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.

Yi Bengaluru members Parul Jain, Shalini Kuduva Gpoinath and Samarth Srinivas, along with certified trainers from Decathlon, jointly conducted the sessions. They incorporated a variety of yoga practices, focusing on breathing techniques, meditation, and physical postures that enhance flexibility, strength, and overall mental clarity. Experienced instructors provided personalized guidance to ensure that all participants could benefit, regardless of their prior experience with yoga.

One of the highlights of this initiative was the inclusive approach taken by Yi Bengaluru. The sessions at The Sheila Kothavala Institute for the Deaf and the National Association for the Blind were particularly notable, as they adapted traditional yoga practices to meet the needs of students

with sensory impairments. This not only exemplifies the adaptability of yoga but also emphasizes Yi Bengaluru’s consistent commitment to inclusivity.

Yi Bengaluru’s collaboration with these educational institutions and Decathlon underscores the importance of integrating wellness practices into the daily routines of students. By promoting yoga, Yi Bengaluru aims to equip the youth with tools to manage stress, improve concentration, and enhance their overall quality of life.
